Buck Johnson

Texas-based songwriter and performer, Buck Johnson picks out a driving rhythm on guitar, singing his gritty, yet passionate, heartfelt original songs. He pulls an old lonesome sound together with country, rock and blues, to create his own high-energy blend of Texas honky-tonk.

Son of a Wyoming cowboy and grandson of a Wyoming rancher, Buck’s western legacy was instilled at an early age. Late nights, gathered at the fireplace with family and friends, singing and playing classic country songs prepared Buck for what, years later, would become a phenomenal debut album.

“The Morning After,” released August 24, 2010, was produced by Flying Burrito Brother John Beland and proves from the very first, powerfully-driven note that Buck knows his way around a fretboard. He blends a traditional, old, lonesome sound with country, rock and blues, to create his own high-energy brand of Texas country.

Buck wrote or co-wrote nine of the concept album's twelve gritty, yet passionately heartfelt, songs. The title track, co-written with accredited western songwriter Donnie Blanz, has already received accolades from the Austin Songwriters Group.The musical influences of Jim Lauderdale, Chris Ledoux and Dwight Yoakam can be heard throughout the album, yet “The Morning After” is a direct product of this Texas cowboy’s original, signature sound.Buck performs everywhere from dance halls, honky-tonks, fairs and festivals, to corporate functions and private parties. He currently resides in Waller County, Texas, with his wife, Ka'ren. Again, he finds himself in a home where lots of music is shared with family and friends, passing down the tradition to three daughters and a son.

For now, the circle goes unbroken.
